Ann E. Woodward
I studied drawing, painting, and sculpture at the Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts. In addition to painting, I have done book illustration, photography, and television editing. My mixed media works on paper combine drawings and watercolors of found objects and still life or landscape fragments with collage, photographs, and monoprint elements. Currently I am working almost solely with paper collage on paper, creating imaginary landscapes, interiors, and still lifes which are both representational and abstract at the same time. The subject of much of my work since 2007 is inspired by my residencies in Venice, Italy. My current collages are directly related to my experiences there. I seek to create imaginary spaces based on real ones and to create a sense of unity and peace.
