Guy A. Wiggins
At 96 I must be the oldest Salmagundian still painting. I am a realistic impressionist like my father and grandfather, both professional painters and lifelong Salmagundian. My (grandfather was President from 1912-1914). I paint what I see. I paint landscapes and while I was in the Foreign Service I painted in France and Italy. I paint flowers and still lives but the great city of New York remains my favorite subject. For 15 years Cartier reproduced thousands of my New York scenes as Christmas cards. My work can be seen in several museums (check my website). Sotheby's has sold my work every year at their annual auction of American paintings. I shall continue to paint New York scenes since when I do I feel a part of this great City.
