Gilkey began painting as a child, inspired and encouraged by her French Grandfather. She went on to earn her BFA in Painting from the University of New Hampshire, USA. Her work is observational and intuitive, bringing together subject and narrative. "My muse is Ireland and I find inspiration there in the ever changing light and atmospheric conditions. I love the countryside and the farm life, with all of it's stories." Gilkey exhibits in both her U.S. galleries and Irish Galleries. She has won numerous awards and has been included in major U.S. shows, including "Women Painting Women", Principle Gallery, 2015. Her work is in private collections in the U.S. and Europe.
