Sudbury, Massachusetts artist Jeanne Rosier Smith grew up painting in all media, but first discovered pastels in 1999, at age 33. It was love at first touch. After a first career teaching college English, she made the switch to painting and began her life as a professional artist in 2004. Childhood summers at the beach, and a college year spent in Nice, France, in a dorm room with a sea view began a lifelong love of the water-one she continues to explore in her popular seascape series. Smith is an artist member of the Salmagundi Club, the Copley Society, and Academic Artists, and a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Society of Marine Artists, and an IAPS Master's Circle Member. She is represented by five east coast galleries, and offers workshops at her home studio, nationwide, and abroad.
