FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A Still Life Worth Living
New Top Still-life from the Salmagundi Collection on Display

NEW YORK, West Village, New York (February 22, 2023) – Salmagundi is thrilled to present its latest exhibition, Inanimate Musings: Premium Still-Life from the Collection. Featuring classical realist still-life works by Salmagundi artists Kathy Anderson, Dan Bunn, Elizabeth “Beth” M Kurtz (1937-2018), and Ellen Buselli, the exhibition will run from February 19th to April 22nd, 2023, and will be displayed in the dining room of the Salmagundi.
The exhibition will showcase the diverse range of techniques and mediums used by the artists. Visitors will have the opportunity to see Kathy Anderson’s exquisite floral still-life paintings, featuring her signature bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors. Dan Bunn, a young master of classical painting, will present his delicate compositions of fruits and vegetables with a dark twist. Elizabeth “Beth” M Kurtz (1937-2018), a former Salmagundian, will be represented by a work that showcases her mastery of light, form, and texture.
Ellen Buselli, one of the best Realist painters in America, will be featured thanks in part to her generous new gift to the Club’s collection. Her show-stopping still-life tour de force in the style of one of her painting heroes, Emil Carlsen, will be a highlight of the exhibition.
“We have been working to develop more representation in the collection and raise the quality substantially,” says William “Bill” Eric Indursky, referring to the collection that was largely put together at a time when only men were allowed in the club.
The works will be displayed in the dining room of the Salmagundi, where visitors can immerse themselves in the still-life paintings while enjoying a meal. This unique exhibition celebrates the artistry of still-life painting and its place in the canon of art history, and visitors will have the opportunity to engage with the rich history and tradition of the Salmagundi.
Inanimate Musings: Premium Still-Life from the Collection will be open to the public from February 19th to April 22nd, 2023, at the Salmagundi, located at 47 5th Ave, New York, NY 10003. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 1 PM to 6 PM, and Saturday and Sunday, 1 PM to 5 PM. Admission is free.
