Antonio Cirino (1889-1983): Four Seasons
Salmagundi non-resident artist-member Antonio Cirino (1889-1983) was an important part of the club from 1926 to 1983, spanning 57 years. The gifted Rhode Island School of Design graduate (1904-1909) was a prolific painter, jewelry designer, writer and teacher.
Cirino volunteered a great deal of time to the club, including compiling a thirteen volume set on American illustrators, held in our library today. The library was a favorite place, which inspired him to donate more than forty of his own books to the collection.
As a painter, the artist became known for his impressionistic landscape and coast scenes of Providence, RI and New England.
On his passing, Cirino donated half of his existing works with the express intent for them to be sold to benefit the club. Over the years, the works have appreciated in value and are popular among collectors.
In Antonio Cirino: Four Seasons, we present his landscapes depicting Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall.
All works are available for purchase.
