Please join us for a talk with artist Anthony Baus. He will be previewing a new series of pen and ink drawings, to be exhibited at Robert Simon Fine Art during Master Drawings New York 2022.

Baus’ exquisite technique, mastery of architectural perspective as well as his boundless imagination have produced a new series evoking wondrous urban landscapes that appear both real and dreamlike. He derived his technique through rigorous study of 17th and 18th century Italian drawing. Baus’ work depicts life on the streets of Chicago and New York. He will be sharing his experiences from his early days salvaging antiques in Chicago, to his travels in Europe in search of ancient beauty.

Baus is an alumnus and faculty of the Grand Central Atelier. He is the recipient of the 2015 Alma Schapiro Prize and the 2019 Arthur Ross Award.

Introduction by Ananda Fetherson.

For those who can’t make it, this event will be recorded and posted on Salmagundi’s Youtube channel for viewing.
