Join us for the panel discussion: A New Generation in Figurative Art. Moderated by SCNY Vice President Patricia Watwood, with artist juror Hyeseung Song, and artists Richard T. Scott, and Brendan Johnston.

What drives a young generation to embrace the figure as their primary subject? How does the figure today connect with a contemporary audience and our culture at large? We want to hear what a rising generation in figurative artists bring to this eternal subject.

These artists who are currently exhibiting in Salmagundi’s New York Figurative Show will discuss the motivations and inspirations for figurative realism to a generation raised on post modernism and MTV.

This panel is in conjunction with Salmagundi’s New York figurative exhibition (January 10 – 28) open for viewing in our skylight gallery, highlighting the human form as subject. Presenting an array of works in various media with drawings, paintings, photography, and sculpture; this show explores the range of figurative practice thriving in today’s artists’ studios.
