On June 18th, it’s vlaggetjesdag in Scheveningen where 200,000 people gather to taste the newly caught Hollandse Nieuwe (fresh caught herring). And for the first time in three years, the Dutch in New York will get a chance to taste the same Hollandse Nieuwe Haring flown in directly from Scheveningen.
Bring your American friends and colleagues and show them how to hold up a fresh, raw herring by its tail, dip it in onion and take a delicious bite.
