Out of East Africa is an exhibition of wildlife portraits and paintings depicting the culture in Rwanda and Tanzania. In 2015, artist Lahrgo had the incredible opportunity to travel and visit both countries, where her daughter was living at the time. From brushes with giant silverbacks while gorilla trekking, to close encounters with elephants and wildebeests on safari, Lisa was in awe of the natural beauty she witnessed. Her paintings in Out of East Africa are inspired by the photographs she took there.
A portion of the proceeds will go towards scholarships for students at the G.S. Kinihira School in Rwanda.
About the Artist
Lahrgo (Lisa Ahronee Golub) was raised in Rome (Italy) and Geneva (Switzerland). She attended Wellesley College, worked in banking systems for ten years in NYC, then moved to Huntington, Long Island, where she currently lives. She has always painted and loved art. Her work includes mostly human and animal portraits. Preferred mediums: pastel, oil, gouache. The paintings in this show are painted in all three mediums.
