About the Event

Equal parts party and serious workshop, this historic activity goes back to the 1880s, with the Salmagundi Club being a recognized center for “monotype parties”. Images are created on a plate and run through a printing press to create a singular impression.

Participants can come and go all day long, but you MUST SIGN UP IN ADVANCE if you plan to attend!

Whether an experienced printmaker or a novice, it doesn’t matter. These parties have become the most popular events of the club season, so don’t miss out!

Materials to bring:

Reference materials, sketchbooks, previous work you might want to experiment with, drawings, photos, stencils, personal tools, stiff bristle brushes (for working on plates), Q-Tips , tooth picks, etc.

We will supply:

Plates and Press
Basic Colors in inks
Paper for printing
All necessary tools and printmaking equipment

Black and white: people gather joyfully around a monotype press, admiring a fresh print.
