Bespoke program for kids

As #GivingSeason approaches, we invite you and your youngster to experience a first-of-its-kind New York City charity fundraiser at The Salmagundi Club, one of America’s oldest art clubs, a legendary art & artist community hub for 150+ years, and located in the last remaining historic 5th Avenue mansion of its kind just steps away from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village.

This exclusive children’s drawing salon will be hosted by celebrated American artist Tracy Dockray – member of The Society of Illustrators, SCBWI, and the illustrator of 25+ successful children’s books, most notably Beverly Cleary’s beloved Ramona Quimby book series.

Straight shot of Salmagundi's parlor

Held in the Salmagundi Club’s grand parlor overlooking 5th Avenue, this intimate event will offer young artists a magical setting for a two-hour class of exclusive drawing & illustration instruction.

Through step-by-step lessons and one-on-one guidance from Tracy Dockray, each young artist will have the tools (premium art supplies included for each guest), encouragement, and expert art teaching to feel their very best when practicing their illustration and doodling skills, exploring their own artistic talents, and getting comfortable with the basics of drawing faces, their expressions, figures, and bodies in motion.

What does your ticket include?

A drawing of a young girl drawing, with a cat standing on her back and watching.

Tracy’s bespoke program features a short presentation on figure drawing & illustration, warm up exercises, and learning how to draw faces and their emotions, hands and bodies, and bodies in motion.

One (1) drawing salon ticket provides entry to one (1) drawing salon class session.

  • All art supplies included for each young artist through the Salmagundi Club’s premium art sponsors, including individual drawing pencil kits from Royal Talens and 100% organic cotton drawing paper & mini-sketchpads from Legion Paper
  • Light snacks and refreshments (+ flute of champagne for artist chaperones over the age of 21)
  • 1 hardcover copy of The art of Ramona Quimby: sixty-five years of illustrations from Beverly Cleary’s beloved books, signed by Tracy Dockray for each young artist (A Mighty Girl 2020 book of the year, $40 retail value)
  • Full access to The Salmagundi Club’s facilities, library, and current gallery exhibitions for the duration of the event for all young artists and their chaperones!

This giving season, give the gift of art to your close ones, art lovers, or a young aspiring doodler.

Questions?

We are happy to make accommodations for young artists who may be outside of our suggested age ranges but would like to join a call, or who may have scheduling conflicts for one of the suggested age range session times (and require attending a different drawing group). Have questions? Send us an email at info@salmagundi.org
