About the Film
Who but Billy Wilder could have concocted this enduringly appealing, late 1950’s romance/comedy about a hungry, low-level, NYC insurance clerk (Jack Lemon) who lends his (pre-Lincoln Center) West 67th Street apartment to coworkers (including his smarmy big boss, Fred MacMurray) as a locus for their extra marital affairs? Hapless Lemon and office elevator operator/crush Shirley McLain are the real stars here. They are absolutely irresistible as sweet/funny comrades in amour. Music composed by David Raksin, conducted by Alfred Newman.
Runtime is approximately 125 minutes and released in 1960. Come early to gather in the lower level of the Club and grab a beverage at the legendary Wiggins Bar. Screenings will begin promptly afterwards.

Brought to you by the Salmagundi Program Committee, Club members Barbara Genco and Michael Rosenfeld will be hosting a carefully curated film series. This series is a chance for film enthusiasts to come together at the start of the weekend for a shared cinematic experience. All are welcome to participate in a casual conversation covering a variety of viewpoints.
