About the Event
St David’s Society is the senior Welsh heritage society of New York State.
It has its origins as a benevolent society to care for immigrants who needed financial help through hard times with health, funeral and subsistence expenses. It has morphed into an agency for supporting students though increasingly expensive college studies.
Salmagundi has been the home for its business office for many years and the St. David’s Society feels this is a good time to get better acquainted.
As such, the society would like to sponsor a celebration of Wales’s National Day, St. David’s Day, with a dinner and small exhibition – to share a little of their heritage as a Society and an awareness of the cultural differences which Welsh people bring to the unique American experience.
St. David’s Society welcomes Salmagundi members to join them in the dining room for some Welsh fare (leeks and lamb feature prominently!).
There will also be some valuable pieces from our treasury and archives to offer a glimpse into who we are, where we come from, and what we do.
