Description of work:

George Henry Smillie was an American painter and etcher. Smillie was taught engraving by his father and married a fellow genre painter, Nellie Sheldon Jacobs. He spent most of his life in New York City but took frequent trips to the Rocky Mountains and Yosemite Valley. He was best known for his landscapes around the shores of New York.
