Description of work:

Harry Grant Williamson was an American Golden Age illustrator and genre landscape painter. He trained at the Art Students’ League of Cincinnati, the Royal Academy in Munich, in Paris, in the Hague, Netherlands, and finally at the Indiana School of Art. He studied illustration and worked for magazines Harper’s, Pearson’s, The Saturday Evening Post, and Success. After working in the Midwest, the artist went back to Hague, Netherlands where he met his wife Sarah. He lived in the Netherlands for several years and fell in love with the Romantic landscapes featuring windmills. This painting, Dutch scene is typical of the artist’s painting work.
