Description of work:

DOOR PANEL 1- “THE FALL OF MAN”
In this compositing I created the fall of mankind. At the top of the composition is the allegorical figure Eterna (Eternity) a messenger sent from the Gods to take the laurels and crown of immortality away from man. Eterna lets man fall back to an earth that he has killed and wasted through pollution, greed and ignorance. Mankind and modernism have abandoned the library and Temple of Apelles. I show the symbolic book of the old masters falling. I also show a dead bird with broken wings falling from the pollution and plague that man has brought to the earth. The bird is also symbolic of Icarus who attempted to escape fate but flew to close to the sun. Man like Icarus falls into his own downward spiral and labyrinth.
Eterna has sent a Monarch butterfly as a symbol of victory over death in the afterlife and as a messenger of the crown of immortality to anyone who is tuned into the fluttery frequency of resurrection.

DOOR PANEL 2- “THE RISE OF WOMAN”
In this composition I created the rise of women. At the top of the composition is the allegorical figure of Eterna (Eternity) returning the lost crown of immortality to the Queen of Divine Providence who has kept the torch of inspiration lit for those who seek the light of knowledge and a path forward. The Queen now reigns over the Temple of Apelles. The book she holds in her hand is a symbol of old masters and the knowledge that she shares in inspiring the next generation. The Queen a martyr lost in art history has earned a new reputation on earth, and of eternal life.
As the Crown of Immortality is about to be placed on the Queen’s head, I show monarch butterflies swarming around her as a symbol of eternal life and light taking flight. Seated below the queen is a woman holding the book of eternity, she represents time and fate and commands the embodiment of earth whose fate sits in the balance of time. There is hope in the darkness and the light that Divine Providence holds, but the masses must realize that they can’t let ego and greed take precedence over the one life that mere mortals are given. The planet earth below her is once again balanced as a new dawn sheds its light.
