Biography:
John Wahlig is a retired orthodontist from Corning, New York. His artwork is inspired by the techniques of the old masters. Dr. Wahlig received a B. S. degree from Union College, a D.D.S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a M. S. degree in his orthodontic residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. His paintings have appeared in area museums and galleries and he also has received awards in national exhibitions. Dr. Wahlig is a Fellow of and was on the Board of Directors of the American Artists Professional League. He also is a juried member of the Salmagundi Club in New York City and also has been a juried member of the Oil Painter of America. He respects the techniques of the old masters, the seventeenth century Dutch painters, and the nineteenth century American and English landscape painters. He admires their use of light, their high quality representation, and their understanding and respect for the craft of the fundamental techniques of oil painting.
