Materials to bring:
Reference materials, sketchbooks, previous work you might want to experiment with, drawings, photos, stencils, etc. Also – personal tools, stiff bristle brushes (for working on plates), Q-Tips , tooth picks, cotton rags and paper towels.
We will supply:
Plates and Press
Basic colors in inks
Paper for printing
All necessary tools and printmaking equipment
Paper for printing monotypes
Equal parts party and serious workshop, this historic activity goes back to the 1880s, with the Salmagundi Club being a recognized center for “monotype parties”. Images are created on a plate and run through a printing press to create a singular impression.
These parties have become the most popular events of the club season, so don’t miss out. Whether an experienced printmaker or novice it doesn’t matter!
About the Organizer
Taylor Haynes is a multidisciplinary visual artist based out of New York City who specializes in painting and printmaking, specifically large-scale silkscreening.
A recent graduate of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and art, Taylor utilizes large abstract color fields to engage the viewer in a conversation about space, materiality, and the in-between.
