Biography:

Valerie Mandra finds her inspiration for painting in the natural world. As an avid skier and hiker, she spends a great deal of time outdoors observing the landscape. Her passion is translating what she sees and feels about the landscape into her paintings.

Valerie first obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Later in life she went back to school and obtained an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Visual Arts and a Master of Arts in Studio Art from the College of New Rochelle specializing in graphic design/illustration.

Although she now paints mostly with pastels, she also loves printmaking and has used monotypes as under paintings for her pastel work.

Valerie holds signature membership in the Pastel Society of America and the Connecticut Pastel Society.  She is a member of the Salmagundi Art Club NYC and The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.  She was featured as one of the “Artists to Watch” in the Pastel Journal’s December 2016 edition.

Her work has been juried into many National Shows and she has received awards for her paintings.
