Biography:

Wendy McClatchy holds a Bachelor’s degree in studio art and art history from Hollins University in Roanoke,Virginia, and a Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. She practiced art psychotherapy in several area psychiatric institutions, and then went on to co-found Decorative Affairs after the birth of her son. Decorative Affairs provided special effects painting, wall glazing, marbling, faux bois  false wood painting, and trompe-l’oeil (‘deceive the eye’ techniques). Wendy worked with many prominent interior designers and architects from New York City to Atlanta while operating Decorative Affairs. Her work was featured on the cover of House Beautiful Magazine ,and in the Vassar Designer Show House for four consecutive years. More recently, Wendy has concentrated on expressing herself artistically within the confines of a frame. She is drawn to still life, landscapes, and seascapes that inspire her to share her emotional responses to the scene with the viewer. Wendy’s preferred medium is pastel because it offers a more unique challenge for her as an artist while capturing the light, color, and textures of natural vitality and brilliance. Wendy has participated in many national and international juried shows, as well as local shows near her home in Pennsylvania. She is a signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society, the Connecticut Pastel Society, The Degas Pastel Society,and the Philadelphia Water Color Society-Works On Paper. Wendy is also a juried member of the Salmagundi Club of NYC,The Catharine  Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and an Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America.
