Inspired by endless natural beauty on Kauai, I create paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylic and gouache. The drama of Kauai’s majestic landscape, the whimsy of everyday life, and the resplendent wildlife of The Garden Island are important and regular features of my work. I studied at the University of Georgia and The Art Students League of New York City. I live with my wife, Hayley, and our son, Mylo. I surf poorly and throw a frisbee really well. Aloha, and I’ll see you on the beach!

I love representational painting and studying the evolution of descriptive techniques through art history fascinates me. Additionally, ten years surrounded by New York City’s contemporary scene sparked a love of non objective, or abstract, art making and conceptual work alike. With the goal of celebrating all these influences together, I make art rooted in representation and enlivened by abstract, painterly techniques, balancing whimsical exploration, honest description and active, expressive gesture.
