Peter Anton Juley (1862-1937) was a German-born American photographer who became one of the largest and most respected fine-arts photography firms in New York.  The company documented more than 11,000 American artists in 127,000+ negatives.  Images included portraits of artists in their studios, artwork reproduction for early catalogs and more.

Juley was the official photographer of National Academy of Design, New York, NY.

In 1907, Peter Juley’s son Paul Peter Juley (1890-1975) [RA 1930-1975] joined the firm.

Paul Juley was an active member of Salmagundi.  Most of the club’s early photographs are by Juley & Son. Shows, artists, artworks, parties and decorated rooms were captured by the younger Juley at Salmagundi.

This exhibition looks at some of the early photography from the club by Juley & Son.
