A woman with red hair stands outdoors in a forest, wearing a white blouse and holding a coat. She is surrounded by branches and leaves.
Salmagundi is thrilled to announce the opening of Daydream in Memories of Youth, which will run from Wednesday, April 23, to Saturday, May 3. This solo exhibition in Salmagundi’s parlor room will feature works by acclaimed Austin-based artist Stephanie Duprie Routh, a multi-disciplinary installation that explores memory, identity, and sensuality.

In addition to Duprie Routh’s photographs, “Daydream in Memories of Youth” includes sensory and literary elements created specifically in response to the images: a custom scent by Mexico City olfactory artist, Lula Curioca, and poetry by California writer Dalya Sachs.

Reception

Apr 25, 2025, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Reception is open to the public
RSVP required

To celebrate opening weekend, Salmagundi will welcome the public for an artists’ reception from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on April 25th for a moderated discussion and exhibition viewing with the artists. Danielle Fox PhD, Director of Slate Contemporary Gallery and Fox Projects, (Oakland, CA), will introduce the exhibit and guide a discussion with the artists about their work at 7:00pm.

Access to the exhibition will be available during normal hours of 1pm to 6pm daily, excluding Monday.

In Salmagundi’s parlor room, photographer Stephanie Duprie Routh will present “Daydream in Memories of Youth,” a multimedia installation that includes sensory and literary elements. Poetry by Dalya Sachs created in response to the images is aired via video, and a scent designed by olfactory artist Lula Curioca complements the exhibit.

A double exposure showing a bed with pillows and plants, combined with an image of a window and a partially visible person's face, creating a surreal and artistic overlay effect.
