Art Nouveau style illustration of a nude woman swinging from a tree branch with the text “The Lark for May” and “The Oread” above and below.

Salmagundi’s Curators and Library Committee presents an exhibition of wonderful late 19c – early 20c graphics — literary publishers’ magazine pages and book-promoting prints from our Club’s art collection. These “Library Posters” will enliven the Dining Room corridor and the Bar’s south wall, in honor of John and Eloise Morehouse, two members of long standing.

While John chaired our Library Committee some years ago, he discovered in our Library a scrapbooked treasure of literary prints. The Morehouses soon produced a book about our posters, and sponsored the professional conservation and framing of many.

Our exhibition in honor of the Morehouses, and of our “Library Posters,” runs from May to June on the ground floor corridor walls, and will extend across the Bar’s South wall through at least  summer’s end. Join us for the reception celebrating the Morehouses and our Library Posters, to which John and Elouise will be attending.
