About the Event

Learn how to draw the figure from life with exact proportion, likeness, shading, etc. Stop the guessing when you can’t get the results you want and learn the foundation of observational drawing in the Classical Realist Tradition.

Carol will lecture, demo, then instruct students individually while they work from the model for one long pose the entire workshop. Open to all, from beginners to professionals!

Recommended Supply List

  • Soft vine charcoal
  • Ideally 18”x24” paper pad (medium toned or white charcoal or laid paper)
  • Your own board for your paper pad
  • Clips or tape
  • Kneaded eraser
  • A sighting stick
  • A white charcoal/pastel only if you are working on toned paper

ANY dry medium is welcome: graphite, charcoal or monochromatic pastel. The suggested medium is vine charcoal, as the demo and lecture will be done in this medium. Easels will be supplied by Salmagundi Club.

About the Instructor

Founder and CEO of BlueEaselClub.com, a New Orleans drawing atelier since 2009, Carol Peebles continues the tradition of classical realist life drawing through her classes and commissions. Distinctions include: (Eminence Status) International Association of Pastel Societies, (Signature Member) The Portrait Society of America, (Master Status) Pastel Society of America & MFA, Penn State.

She has been featured in the Master Showcase of International Artist Magazine, Practice Des Arts, France, Fine Art Connoisseur & North Light Books, and was a Portrait Society of America International Exhibition Finalist in 2019.

Carol Peebles has been in juried exhibitions such as: The Art Renewal Center’s International Salon at Sotheby’s NY & The European Museum of Modern Art-MEAM, Barcelona, Spain, The Butler Institute of American Art, The Reading Museum, The Haggin Museum, The National Arts Club, NY, The Salmagundi Club, NY, the Ogden Museum.
