About the Event
Harkening back to the Salmagundi Club’s earlier days as the New York Sketch Club, we host a monthly drawing and painting session on the 4th Tuesday of every month!
This month, in light of the summer season, we will be drawing inspiration from the sun-drenched beach scene paintings of Joaquin Sorolla. Sorolla was celebrated for his extraordinary ability to capture the light on the Mediterranean coastline, almost exclusively painting en plein air and directly from life.
Our costumed model will be dressed and posed in that same spirit: think breezy summer fabrics and directional light. Whether you want to explore a full-figure composition, focus on a portrait study, or commit to an intensive complete piece, this is an opportunity to work from life with an artistic vision as your guide.
Artists must bring their own painting/drawing materials. A few easels will be available, first-come first-serve.
Have any questions? This event is organized by Salmagundi artist member John Derenzo.
Hungry?
Ticketed attendees may reserve for dinner in the dining room (a normally member-exclusive benefit) via our Reservations page with the message “Art Session dinner”. Reservations must be made in advance after RSVP-ing.
