About the Event
Harkening back to the Salmagundi Club’s earlier days as the New York Sketch Club, we host a monthly drawing and painting session on the 4th Tuesday of every month!
This month, we draw inspiration from one of the most celebrated portraitists of the Gilded Age: John Singer Sargent. Sargent earned a reputation for portraits rendered with a loose brushwork that seemed to dissolve form into light.
Our costumed model will be dressed and posed in the Sargent tradition, giving you the chance to chase that signature feeling of capturing personality with spontaneous strokes, tackle a full-figure composition, or simply lose yourself in a portrait study.
All skill levels welcome. Artists must bring their own painting/drawing materials. A few easels will be available, first-come first-serve.
Have any questions? This event is organized by Salmagundi artist member John Derenzo.
Hungry?
The bar will be open for drinks and snacks (card only). Additionally, ticketed attendees may also reserve for dinner in the dining room (a normally member-exclusive benefit) via our Reservations page with the message “Art Session dinner”. Reservations must be made in advance after RSVP-ing.
