About the Event
NYC-based George Gee has been a passionate jazz bandleader for nearly 50 years, presenting mid-century jazz classics and American Songbook standards for thousands of swing music fans nationwide and around the world.
Influenced by his mentor Count Basie (the favorite bandleader of Harlem-born swing dance legend Frankie Manning), George is known to cater to dancing audiences. He also is especially hospitable toward Lindy Hop’s elders as well as the next generation’s tradition-bearers. His events welcome dancers of all ages, cultures and ethnicities.
This participatory educational program in the beautiful Skylight Gallery will discuss dance history, the importance of passing on traditions, and the value of connection across cultures and generations.
Listeners, non-dancers and not-yet-dancers of all ages are warmly encouraged to attend, connect, and enjoy the spirit of Lindy Hop.
This program is a collaboration made possible with support from the SW!NG OUT Community Fund.
