About the Event
February’s photo workshop meeting features Thorsten Roth, a New York City–based Photographer, Creative Director, and Video Director with a global perspective and a passion for visual storytelling. He will be presenting photographs in his latest publication, JAZZ PEOPLE | FIGHTERS. It unites two bodies of work which emerged from decades of his immersion in the cultural crossroads of luxury, fashion, and the arts.
Through Roth’s lens, the distinct rhythm and discipline of jazz musicians in Paris and fighters in New York City’s boxing world are captured — offering a study of legacy, transformation, and the spirit of two iconic cities. In 2024, his portrait portfolio of legendary American jazz musicians, JAZZ PEOPLE — photographed during a twelve-year stay in Paris — was inducted into the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. His FIGHTER portraits have also been featured in Everlast Magazine. His work has also been featured in publications produced by Condé Nast, Hearst, and Time Life.
About the Photo Workshop Group
The Photo Workshop Group holds monthly meetings on the last Friday of each month. It is open to all club members who are interested in photography. Our goal is to encourage conversation, exchange of ideas, and hands-on experimentation in areas of interest to photographers.
