Biography:

Matthew Koehler is a contemporary painter who specializes in still life and landscape subjects, working primarily in oil. His work is grounded in the traditions of the Old Masters, with a particular emphasis on the art of the Baroque period. Originally from Pennsylvania, he earned a degree in Art History from the University of Maine in 2023. His passion for painting began in high school, where his early interest in history led him to discover the works of the Renaissance and Baroque masters.  That encounter sparked a lasting interest in art history, and painting, which continues to this day.  Since 2021, Koehler has exhibited in juried exhibitions across the East Coast, including the Bowery Gallery Juried Show (2022) and the Cape Cod National Juried Exhibition (2023).
