Alex Mikev is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores physical, psychological, and social challenges of performing labor. Through video, drawing, performance, sculpture, and photography, Mikev interprets how the human body struggles to create change, adhere to standardized form, and maintain itself under the influence of environmental pressures. His work speaks to the challenges of the individual that are also felt by the collective, such as claustrophobia, exhaustion, and disillusionment.

He has exhibited work at The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Hamiltonian Gallery in Washington D.C., the Indianapolis Arts Center, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Department of Education Building, the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center in New York, and is a former Dina Wind Fellow at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. In 2018, Mikev studied in Black Mountain, North Carolina at School of the Alternative before receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and Intermedia Art from Ball State University. He currently lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.
