Biography:

Largely self taught, Anna, known as AJ, is a National and International award-winning gallery represented artist. Driven to paint images that evoke a sense of weather and emotion as well as place, she is known for her atmospheric paintings. A resident member of the Salmagundi Club, NY, Signature member of the American Tonalist Society, and an Associate member of Oil Painters of America, NOAPS, and American Impressionist Society. She also has Master designation in the Pastel Society of America and Eminent Pastelist in the International Association of Pastel Societies, and won the 2022 Prix de Pastel Top Award at the Bi-Annual Convention and Pastel World Exhibition. Featured in the Jan/Feb 2021 issue of the Pastel Journal in the article “Conjuring the Landscape” and April 2019 Pastel Journal for her Second Place awarded painting in the annual Pastel 100. She is also recently included in the art book, Pure Pastel: Contemporary Works by Today’s Top Artists. Her works have shown in museum exhibitions including the Butler Institute of American Art, OH, Slater Museum, Norwich, CT, and Haggin Museum, Stockton, CA.

Education/Training

Self Taught; B.A. Rutgers, Urban Studies; A.A. Brookdale, CC, Graphic Design. Workshops and private lessons with Master Pastellist’s Brooke Allison, Richard McKinley, and the late Marge Levine. Other artistic influences, all of the Impressionists, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, William Turner, George Inness, Winslow Homer, and John Singer Sargent
