Biography:

Ms Kissell has shown in 86 juried national & regional shows since resuming painting in 2001. Her previous career was as an Art Director in advertising—at J.Walter Thompson (New York City); Hill, Holliday (Boston), and later in publishing (CT). She resides in Mystic, CT.

On painting…
I love paint. And textures. And layers—those that are transparent, translucent, and even those that are opaque. And whether they are oils or watercolors or acrylics or inks, I love colors, especially strong ones.

And behind all that paint is the need to explore…figures and their personalities, earthly and celestial constructions, and the relationship of forms. For me, painting is an intimate and all-absorbing adventure.
