Biography:

Christine D’Addario is an American artist living and painting in the heart of Long Island’s Gold Coast, Locust Valley, NY. She started painting with oils at the age of five and attended The College of Saint Rose, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She is married to her loving husband Michael D’Addario and has three beautiful daughters. Christine worked as Art Director for the family owned world class music accessories brand D’Addario & Company, Inc. After giving birth to her twin girls she was inspired to transition into her true passion of fine art.

Her award-winning figurative and coastal scenes are full of radiant color, energetic brush strokes and transparent layers to express luminous light. Living on Long Island, Christine has a deep appreciation for the beautiful and fleeting beach going season. The goal of her work is to evoke positive feelings within the viewer by sharing the essence and peace that comes from a long summer day spent at the beach.
Her art is inspired by the masterworks of William Merritt Chase, Frank Weston Benson, and Joaquín Sorolla. She has also worked with many award winning artists such as Howard Rose, Don Demers, John Traynor, Quang Ho, Kathy Anderson (from the Putney Painters/ Richard Schmid,) David Shevlino, Max Ginsburg, California artists Scott Hamill and Peggi Kroll Roberts.

Christine is a member of the historic Salmagundi Art Club in New York City where she exhibits her work in their state of the art Greenwich Village brownstone galleries. At the Salmagundi Art Club she was selected to serve as an alternate Juror of Exhibitions. She has also been recognized as one of the top International Contemporary Artists around the world.

Her affiliations include Nassau County Museum of Art, Heckscher Museum of Art, The Art Guild of Port Washington, The American Society of Marine Artists, Oil Painters of America, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and others. Christine was also selected to serve on the Board of Directors at the Art League of Long Island and where she assisted the development of Long Island’s most extensive art library, much of which was donated by benefactor Mrs. Lorraine Grace.

It is rewarding for Christine to show her support to charities by designing custom print materials and donating her paintings for auctions and events. She was Chief Designer & Journal Chairperson for the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer. Christine exhibited work that benefited the Northshore Land Alliance, and was a participant in the Town of Oyster Bay Rotational Art Exhibit Program to integrate art and community. Her designs also represented the D’Addario Foundation Concert Series at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall. The D’Addario Foundation is a non-profit grant-making organization which promotes music education to communities in need throughout the world.

Her favorite season is summer because it is always spent close to the sea. She takes that time to observe, record and plein air paint. There is always a great flow of inspiration and fresh perspectives to be explored. Most of all she enjoys making new memories with family and friends to bring those positive feelings and emotions into the artwork she creates.
