Description / background:

Established in 1996 in memory of Gene “Gino” Caesar Magazzini (1914-1994) [RA 1961-1994] by his wife Yolanda Magazzini, who became a member of the club after her husband’s death.  Gene “Gino” Caesar Magazzini (1914-1994) was a Salmagundi artist member and American landscape and still-life painter.  The award is given out for a traditional-style work in oil.  The award traditionally began to be given at the annual member’s show, but has since moved several times and has been awarded at several shows including the Spring Auction sale.  The amount varies from $225 to $300 per award.  The money was gathered by his wife who asked anyone who remembered her husband to donate to the fund.
