I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors since childhood but painting was set aside while a registered nursing career evolved. Now the passion is back and time seems to be pressing to apply all the wonderful workshops and skills learned to capture the various images especially during this pandemic time. I am a signature member of Animals For Conservation, Emeritus Signature member Women Artists of the West, member of Salmagundi Club, California Art Club, San Diego Watercolor Society, San Diego Museum of Art Artist Guild and various local art groups and Boards.
I have won numerous awards and accepted into various festivals and juried shows, most proudly Birds in Art, Artists For Conservation and Paint the Parks, Award of Excellence WAOW for Watercolor and multiple awards at our famous Del Mar Fair which has 1.2 million visitors per season. It is fun to demo for the public and do plein air painting at the Fair bringing art to others and encouraging them to join in. I designed a Starbucks/San Diego Zoo design for conservation purposes, have art in a couple of movies/books and continue to support various wildlife events.
I love blues and copper metal so I am exploring a type of painting that was fairly common in the 1700s. Painting on copper and letting the glow of the metal shin through but in my case I love the effects of the patina.
As a native San Diegan I find joy in all the wildlife sketching possibilities with the a world famous zoo, aquariums and the fabulous coastline with breathtaking sunsets. So much to paint and I confess to being a non techie. I am good with the brush, not so good with the keyboard.
