Biography:
Inspired by nature’s beauty, my interpretations are conveyed on canvas relying on the prism that exists in every seascape or landscape. I was introduced to the use of this prismatic palette in my early 20’s and still use it today. This palette was first conceived by Frank V. Dumond and then was later passed on to Arthur F. Maynard, one of my first mentors at the Ridgewood Art Institute. Building on this prismatic palette, I continued my early studies with John P. Osborne and further enhanced my studies at the Art Students League.
Many of my seascapes are from the East Coast, from Monhegan Island, Maine down the coast to the New Jersey Shore. Plein air sketches are used to capture the feel of the day, whether an overcast, foggy day or a bright sun filled day, the color schemes and intrigue of the scene as well as my emotional response are carefully captured and then brought back to the studio for further development.
Currently based in Northern New Jersey, my work is shown competitively and has received awards. Current affiliations include, Salmagundi Club, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society and the Ridgewood Art Institute.
