Biography:

A native New Yorker, Michael Rosenfeld was first a member of Salmagundi from 2003 – 2006, resuming lay/patron membership in 2014. A semi-retired academic and university administrator, he is a cultural historian of modern Europe with strong interests in literature, film, and the arts. He also has done work in local history which was critically appraised as “representing a level of sophistication rarely encountered in the field.”

As a member of Salmagundi he takes great pleasure in the extraordinary range of artistic styles, tastes, interests and experiences represented by the club’s varied and accomplished members, both artist and patron. He serves on the COGAP and Program  Committees, is a co-sponsor of the monthly tango event, has a keen interest in the library, and is a small but avid collector of the paintings of the late Salmagundian Antonio Cirino. With fellow member Barbara Genco, he is launching the upcoming Summer Art film series.  He is a member of the Coffee House Club, now in residence at 47 Fifth, as well as of ICOM, a UNESCO-sponsored organization representing the global museum community. With our 150th anniversary behind us, he is already looking forward to our 175th in 2046!
