Biography:

Norma Johansen Struck began her career as a professional illustrator after graduating from the N.Y. Pratt-Phoenix School of Design. Later after studying at the Art Student’s League, her creative leanings led in many directions eventually to the print market and portrait painting. Her work was reproduced in Life Magazine and Ladies Home Journal. Eight of her mini-portraits hang in the Navy Historical Museum. An award-winning artist listed in Who’s Who in American Art and Who’s Who in America, her work graces the halls of the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., The World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, Colorado, The Henie-Onstad Museum in Oslo, Norway, the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Wash. D.C. and in private collections across the country and in Europe. She has won many national and regional awards in major exhibitions including Salmagundi Club, American Artist’s Professional League, the Catherine Lorillard, Hudson Valley Art Assoc. and numerous others in the metropolitan area. She was commissioned to paint the first woman line Admiral in the Navy which hangs in the Pentagon and the first woman in the White House Ceremonial Guard plus numerous Admiral’s portraits now hanging in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the American Artist’s Professional League, Life member of the Art Student’s League, Navy Art Program (NACAL), Coast Guard Art Program (COGAP), Salmagundi Club, Soc. of Illustrators, Hudson Valley Art Assoc., and Portrait Societies.
