Statement from the Artist:

My artistic journey began in an unexpected chapter of life—early retirement. What started as simple curiosity led me to a few drawing and painting classes, where I discovered both the joy and the challenge of learning to draw and paint in oils. When I began working with color, I quickly realized how much more there was to learn. A painting instructor encouraged me to explore grisaille, a monochromatic technique built on shades of grey, before embracing color.

Color still feels intimidating but it helps me to convey mood, depth, and atmosphere.

The two paintings in this exhibition reflect that evolution. The first painting is rooted in the discipline of grisaille and the second one embraces color. Placed side by side, these works trace the arc of my artistic growth.
