Statement from the Artist:

In 2011, I was beginning to photograph pairs of people but was still focused on a single photo of one person, the subject's expression, mood, identity, the composition, and especially the light, all vital elements of portrait photography and the focus of my attention. Now, in 2026, I've just begun to experiment with using multiple photos within the frame to explore my subject in greater depth. I’m pleased by my success with this first double portrait, and I'm excited by the possibilities it opens up.I’m particularly interested in double exposure for portraits since I can show more that one aspect of a person and also create an interplay between them, devising a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
