Watercolor of pink and purple Sweet-William, Dianthus barbatus, stem with pencil numbering referencing the surrounding detailed sections. Lalique has made an intense study of this flower, fitting of a botanical reference book, of the stem, nodes, umbel, petals and stamen from various angles.
