I studied cast drawing under Paul Ingbretson and Meg Mercier in their Framingham Atelier in 1996. It was my first experience working in the tradition of R. H. Ives Gammell.

In 1998, I studied under Steven Assael at NYAA. I learned his technique of applying vivid color, building up layers to sculpt the form in paint. In 1999, he recommended me for a teaching position saying, “She has developed dramatically as a painter in a very short period of time. She is one of the most serious and committed students I have ever encountered. Her painting style is bold and clearly her own. She also exhibits a wonderful, open personality.” It was an honor to study under Steven Assael, and I attribute my advance in painting to his mentorship.

I am not a member currently. When I was at Salmagundi for my artist talk I was encouraged to submit to this.
