Biography:

“Contemporary realist Del-Bourree Bach is known for his striking and almost tactile depictions of man and nature. Although many of his paintings are inspired by the sea and the life in and around it, he enjoys paintings many subjects from rural farms to western vistas to city sidewalks. His painting invite viewers to enter into the scene and challenge them to create their own stories and impressions. Primarily a studio painter, he works mainly in acrylic, but also enjoys transparent watercolor.

Del’s work is included in many private and public collections including the Florence Griswold Museum in CT, the Albrecht Kemper Museum in MO, the Salmagundi Club New York and the U. S. Embassy and Coast Guard Art Collections. He has received over 200 awards in regional, national and international competition including the George Gray Award from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Robert Sanstrom Prize and Gold Medal from the National Society of Painter in Casein and Acrylic (the first artist honored with this award) and the Silver Medal of Honor from the Allied Artists of America. He was honored by the Artists for Conservation for “Artistic Excellence and Extraordinary Dedication to Conservation”. In 2016 he was awarded Best Acrylic Painting in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Best of America and achieved Master Status, an honor shared by only a dozen living artists.

Bach is a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists (current board member), Artists for Conservation, Allied Artists of America, American Artists Professional League (Fellow). Audubon Artists, National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, National Oil and Acrylic Painters (Master) and International Society of Acrylic Painters (Master), among others. He is an elected artist member of the Salmagundi Club New York (former board member), Providence Art Club (Art Committee Member), Copley Society of Art Boston(Copley Master), Lyme Art Association (current board member) and the Mystic Museum of Art (former board member)among others.

Represented by galleries throughout the country, Del regularly has solo, duo and group shows. He has been included in the American Masters at the Salmagundi Club since it’s inception. In 2018 at the 10th Anniversary he received the first Curators Award for the Most Significant Contributions to American Masters. A Premier Artist at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, he has shown regularly at the International Exhibition of Marine Art since 1998 and has won three Awards of Excellence.

American Artist magazine published the first article on Bach’s paintings in 2002. This has been followed by features in The Artists Magazine (2002,2014), International Artists (Master Painters of the World 2003), Watercolor Magic (2005), American Art Collector (12 pieces between 2006 and 2018) Acrylic Artist (2014) and Fine Art Connoisseur (2010, 2014, 2016) among others.

Del and his wife, Kristen moved to their Mystic, CT home, “Pirate Hill” in 2003 after 30 years of apartment dwelling in New York City.

They also enjoy spending time in Boca Grande, FL, where he has an annual solo exhibit at Hughes Gallery.

He is involved in many aspects of the greater art community, serving on a number of boards and committees. He is well respected as a judge of regional and national exhibitions and also as an auctioneer. A strong believer in “giving back”, he regularly donates to various organizations including Sea Research Foundation (Mystic Aquarium), Always Home, Waterford Country School, Crossnore School, Alliance for Living and the Artists Fellowship.”
