Biography:

Barbara Genco is the current 2nd Vice President of the Salmagundi Club. A long-time SCNY Resident Patron member, she is the executor of the art estate of the late Bill Creevy MFA, PSA-MP/HoF, SCNY-RA.
She holds an MLS from Pratt Institute. Now retired and volunteer, she had a 30+ year career at the Brooklyn Public Library where she last served as their Director of Collection Development. She was a long-time Adjunct Associate Professor at Pratt Institue Library School and a collection development consultant for Library Journal, where she also co-edited two books. Barbara served multiple terms on the elected Board of the Association for Library Service to Children (including President) and on the governing Council of the American Library Association. Barbara has also served on numerous prestigious youth literature award committees including the Newbery, the Caldecott, and Boston-Globe Horn Book Award. She also produced countless book reviews for publications such as Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal. She previously chaired the SCNY Library Committee which, at that time, also seated her on the SCNY Board.
