Featured Exhibitions
SCNY Pairings : score and more | skylight gallery
For this exhibition, members paired their own works: one current and one from 20 or more years prior. Younger members selected from their earliest ‘serious’ art making to today. See how their most meaningful work has developed between then and now.
SCNY Recent works by the membership | Rockwell gallery
This exhibition is a showcase of new work by our Salmagundi Club members. Though with particular emphasis on work from this summer, all have been created within this year! For this show, jurors looked for originality of concept and strong execution in in all mediums including painting, photography, drawing, and sculpture.
SCNY Muses & members | Hartley, bridge, & Moran galleries
The Salmagundi Club was founded in 1871 as a club of its time. Women were not allowed membership — or even through the door. Occasionally, their work might hang on the walls. For a century, the image of women in American art was largely made by men. Through loans of significant works by the National Museum of American Illustration, this exhibition puts that history on the wall and asks women artists to answer it.
