Biography:

Irina Kaplan is an Upstate NY based artist who specializes in watercolor. Her work is memorable for the vibrancy of colors and realistic approach to her subjects, be it a person or a still life.

She prefers working on the archival quality surface of Aquabord, and  her paintings require no glass for protection.

 A full time physician of over 30 years, she is a self-taught artist who started painting in watercolor in 2021. She  dedicates herself to capturing human uniqueness through detailed portraiture.

Her work has earned numerous accolades, including awards from the Albany Institute of History & Art, ArtandColor365 magazine and numerous online and in person competitions.

She is a member of the Salmaguni Club, the American Artists Professional League, the Portrait Society of America and the National Watercolor Society. Irina Kaplan is mentored by renowned artist Ali Cavanaugh and is an active contributor to her “Aligators” international watercolor community.

She aims to share the profound joy she finds in the creative process with her viewers and collectors.
