Biography:

Michael T. Colatrella Jr. began his study of drawing and painting in middle age, and art is now his primary advocation. Michael’s first formal art education occurred in 2013 at Sadie Valeri’s Atelier in San Francisco. Since then, he has developed his art through self-study and occasional workshops with such notable artists as Daniel Keys, Elizabeth Zanzinger, and Suchitra Bhosle. Currently, he primarily produces landscapes and portraits in oils. He is inspired by artists John Singer Sargent, Richard Schmid, Issac Levitan, and Ivan Shiskin. He is also greatly inspired by contemporary artists Renato Muccillo, Rose Frantzen, Jeremy Lipking, and Clyde Aspevig. Michael is also an Associate Member of both The Oil Painters of American and the California Arts Club. He lives and works in Sacramento, California.
