Girl with Scarf was painted in the 1980s in China, and I brought it with me to the USA in 1990. It is one of a few left of my early work from China. I met Sam in Union Square three years ago, and asked him to pose for me and created this portrait. One shy Chinese girl, one typical New Yorker, between more than 40 years.
